CATW Student Essay: Summary of Reading
In the article "Go Ahead: Sweat the Small (Green) Stuff,"Julie Hanus describes how even altering our habits slightly can be beneficial for the environment. According to the article, some believe that actions like using cloth grocery bags or efficient showerheads do not help much and might even hurt because they keep people from making changes in their lives that would help the planet more significantly. However, Hanus believes that even the minor ways that we change our lifestyles to make them more environmentally friendly can help. The study found that those who made these small changes were actually more likely to make more substantial changes later on because they felt proud of the action they had already taken.
