Exercise 5 - Making conclusions or generalizations

Instructions: Read the passage and type the logical conclusion or generalization in the box.

In a study conducted by a sociology professor, 1,300 companies in Chicago and Boston received four fictitious resumes each, in response to "help-wanted" ads they had posted. Each of the resumes had equivalent education and experience. The only difference was in the names of the applicants. Some were names associated with Blacks while others were names associated with Whites. The results showed that the applicants with the White-sounding names were 50% more likely to be asked to an interview than those with the Black-sounding names.
